New Places

Going up to Lions Head to paint in early Oct with a few friends--should be great. Not much of a plien aire painter but do enjoy being out side and near the water. I expect to have a show in Mary Louise White's gallery, The Shutter and Brush in Port Stanley in Nov. More information will be posted later.

It looks like I have a new job--teaching acrylic painting techniques ( as I use them) at the Arts Project, in London, Ontario. Starts in Oct and runs for eight weeks--I am delighted, this is I think my dream job. If you are interested check it out with the Arts Project on Dundas Street in London, Ontario.

A Sale!

Had a good day at St.Paul's Catherdral Cloister Artists --finally had a sale! Funny how every sale big or small just makes you feel good and happy about what you do. Also met some nice people and made some good connections so the next few months look promising. I will say more when I have confirmation of a future project. Almost Sept and that new school year feeling is beginning to grow on me. Am I the only one who thinks of Sept as the beginning of the New Year?

New Non Objective Work

Here are some new efforts in the non objective mode. This one above is called" Icebound" and I leave it up to you what you think is there.

This one is titled "Out of the Depths" and has been proclaimed as creepy and morbid by those who have seen it. What do you think?  I am enjoying this kind of painting a lot and hope to do more soon.

August Already

Seems like only a few days ago that I was adding to the blog but it was really a month. Well its summer I suppose is my excuse. Have been busy with small trips and paint outs, and a fair amount of work inside as this summer has been very wet and cool. Still participating in St. Pauls Cloister Artists Show on Sun from 10 to 3 when its not raining!! Perhaps we will see you there.

St.Pauls Cloister Artists

It looks like it has finally stopped raining, so I should be down at St. Paul's tomorrow on Richmond Street, displaying and selling art. There are about 12 artists involved so there is a nice selection of art to view and purchase. Hope to see you there.

new directions

Mid June Wendy Reid and I spent the week in Brockville at the St. Lawerence School of the Arts studying with Lila Lewis Irving a course on Arylic Non-Objective Abstraction. Here are a couple of the better creations.

Visual Fringe in London, Ontario

Here is a nice shot of my work hanging at the Visual Fringe, The Arts Project, Dundas Street, London. The show is on until 4pm on Sunday, June 28 if you are interested in seeing the gallery.

What am I doing??

Here we are the first week into May and I haven't added anything to my blog recently! I could plead a busy life but that is my usual excuse. Soon out door painting starts and members of the Gallery Painting Group are ready to go, look for us in and around London and say hello if you find us. Tour guides are doing studio visits--Danielle Castillo, Chris Snedden( for an afternoon of raku firing, great fun), McIntosh Gallery tour and Johenne Madison's studio. I am taking some classes with Deborah Worsfold--so far good fun and hard work--hope to post some photos soon of what I am doing in class.

April is nearly over!!

I am pleased that April is nearly over as it has been one extremely busy month. Can't believe how many art groups plan shows for this time of year. The Lambeth show finished today and although I didn't sell anything at my first show with this group, many others did and I enjoyed the experience and the opportunity. Also finished my volunteer job with the Antique Appraisal Day with Rotary London East and the McIntosh today--lots of fun and a fair number of people attended. Now lets hope for a quieter May and the beginning of plien aire painting with the Gallery Painting Group.

Please take a look at the rest of the pictures in the blog as well and if in London, Ontario this weekend try to come to the show--lots to see! Open at the Byron Library Fri April 3 10am-9pm and Sat April 4 10am-4pm.

Busy, Busy

Lots to do with family and house but must get into making some art today! Hope everyone enjoyed the new works. I intend to keep going in that direction and in fact have 2 raw unstretched canvasses ready to go and some ideas floating about in my brain. Spring seems to be breaking through in the North land and that brings up urges for plien aire painting and more. Looking forward to the Brush and Palette show(2,3,4) and to Lambeth Art show in April(23,24,25).

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Thanks to those who have been reviewing the blog and sending comments--much appreciated! Trying to develop more work and getting organized for the Brush and Palette Show and Sale at the Bryon Library, London on April 2,3,4. Hope to see friends and interested visitors there.

Sorry no new pictures!

I have been so busy with getting ready for Woodstock Art Gallery Art Rental Show and the Art Exchange Miniature Show in London that pictures for the blog haven't happened.  Also I am waiting for some new pieces that are being framed so I can feature them on the site. Heard this week that my work has been accepted to the London Visual Fringe, happening at the Arts Project, London Ontario in mid June. Add to that the Brush and Palette Club show at the end of March and the Lambeth Art Assoc.( I am a new member-hurray!!) show some time in April I think this is going to be a busy spring. I will try for new photos in bout a week.

Welcome to a New Year

A new series has developed from the Chaos painting--up to 8 pictures now. All will be about 24x26 inches when stretched. All seem to have something to do with creation, evoulution, chaos or peace. Looks good and will see how things develop. I am the Art Rental Artist of the month for Feb. in Woodstock Art Gallery in Woodstock, Ontario. If you are nearby, drop in and look at the landing half way up the stairs --you will find about 6 of my works on view. Their hour are usually noon to five pm.  New pictures will be on the blog soon.

Chaos

Here is a sample of something new I'm trying. Working on raw canvas and using lots of mediums plus poured paint. I think this may develop into a new theme for me. See you in the new year!

Very busy right now with family stuff--probably won't find time to post any new pictures till after Christmas. Happy Holidays to all.
