Sarah Cowling has been painting for about 15 years. Sarah's education consists of a B.A. in History, a B. of Ed., a varied number of art classes taken through the University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College and assorted private art workshops. She likes to use acrylics, often adding images and words from magazines as well as found materials to make a collage.
Recently Sarah's work has been taking a new direction. There is more abstraction and a further development of collage techniques. Materials can be papers stained and painted by the artist, or found material's like buttons, string and recycled bits and pieces. The size of her work ranges from 3x4 inches and up. Subject matter can be purely abstract, inspired perhaps by a colour or shape, or it can be more representational. Themes of family, travel, history and the quirks of human nature are evident in her pieces.
Sarah is a member of the Brush and Palette Club, the Gallery Painting Group, the Lambeth Art Association and a founding member of XM .Ca (a mixed media group). She volunteers for the McIntosh Gallery and Museum London, as a tour guide.
Her work can be seen at Art Rental in Museum London, and on her blog- motherof3alsoapints.blogspot.com.
