June 9,2021. Pandemic Blues. It’s has been unseasonably hot so Gumby and Pokey are visiting an aquarium to cool off. “Let’s go see the seals” says Pokey. “They usually come from places around the world where the weather is not so hot. Watching them swim will make me feel cooler.” So they go to the seal pool and through the big glass window they watch the seals swim gracefully around and around. Suddenly a voice behind them says” Isn’t that boring? All they do is go around and around!” It was a seal! “What are you doing out here ?“ shouts Pokey “oh I just jumped out and ran away!”answers the seal. “But won’t the rest of the seals miss you?”asks Pokey . “ I don’t care!”says the seal. “Well “says Gumby “ you might care when lunch time comes. You won’t find much that you would like to eat out here.” “And” adds Pokey “ It’s blistering hot outside. Not the kind of climate you would like!” “Are we close to the ocean here?” asks the seal. “No it’s hundreds of miles away from here.” answers Gumby. “Oh dear” says the seal “I may have to re-examine my escape plan!” And he waddles away leaving Gumby and Pokey very confused.

June 8, 2021. Pandemic Blues. Pokey got his wish! The carpet really is magic and flys! Gumby jumped on( with his chips) at the last moment. He was afraid but thought maybe pokey might need help. At first it was okay but then they climbed higher and higher. The sky was a beautiful blue. Suddenly Gumby shouts” Are those planes below us? Are we going up higher than an airplane?!” “ I think we are okay”answers Pokey “Look we can still see the ground”. Gumby looks and then starts to feel green and air sick. He’s regretting all the chips he ate! Pokey asks the carpet to go home now. June 7, 2021. Pandemic Blues. Gumby and Pokey are on the beach at the lake. There is a beautiful sunset tonight. And everyone has come to watch. “Wow”says Pokey “this is better than fireworks! Hey do you think all these people got their poke yet?” “Oh I hope so!” answers Gumby. “Hmmm “ muses Pokey “ this carpet we brought down looks like a magic flying carpet! Do you suppose we could go somewhere interesting?” “I think” says Gumby “ that we are somewhere! We have a wonderful sunset to watch and beer and chips! And that’s enough!” Pokey is not so sure but settles in to enjoy himself. June 4,2021. Pandemic Blues. It’s going to be a hot one this weekend! Gumby and Pokey are on the river hoping for some cool breezes. Of course they brought a picnic and a triple size beer bottle. Pokey is rowing and getting tired. Gumby is musing” You know, my green suits are getting a little tight. Did you put them in the dryer?” “ Noooo!”answers Pokey “ I think it’s because you keep self medicating for the blues with beer and chips! And you need more exercise! Like rowing!” Gumby isn’t really listening. June 3,2021. Pandemic Blues. “You know what I really miss?” Sighs Gumby “I miss big city life! I miss the big buildings, all the lights, the hustle and bustle of people going places and doing things. I miss even the noise and the traffic!” Gumby sighs again and continues “ And all the music and art galleries and restaurants and people talking and wearing cool clothes! And shopping where you get to look and touch before you buy!” Oh dear thinks Pokey. Gumby is really going to need his beer and chips today! Think of all the big cats and other animals!”says Pokey describing the trip. “Maybe a bit too exciting!”answers Gumby “After all those are wild cats, not like domesticated cats in our homes!” “True, but think of the fun of riding around in a jeep through the Savannah with guides. They probably have guns just in case. June 1,2021. Pandemic Blues. Gumby and Pokey are walking in the core of the city. Suddenly Pokey notices all the graffiti on the walls of the buildings. “What’s all this?” He exclaims. “Oh “answers Gumby “ That’s graffiti.” “Is that allowed?” wonders Pokey. “Not really and not in most places but some of the artists are famous for their artwork.”says Gumby “ No way!”shouts Pokey “ I can’t believe this is considered artwork. Can you name even one famous graffiti artist?” “Sure how about Bansky?”suggests Gumby . “Well okay I’ve heard of him” says Pokey “But how come he’s not in jail or something for messing up the walls?” Gumby looks at pokey and says “ He comes out when no one can see him” “ohhhh that could be fun , sneaking around and stuff!” exclaims Pokey “ Don’t even think about it!
