I am a day late posting this week due to the Labour Day holiday( yes artists take holidays too!) this is another small watercolour from the cottage, what a great inspiration that place is becoming.

Near our cabin are many fields. The area is high and open skies spread all around. Last week there were many of these rolled hay bales. This is what I tried to capture in this small watercolour and crayon piece.

I have been trying out watercolours at the lake. There is a spit of land across the lake from our cabin that has a lovely growth of bush and trees. Here is under bright sunshine, about 11x14, wc on paper.

A Painting a Week.
Titled "Beside the Sea" this piece is 12x12, mixed media and is in the Salt exhibition at the Arts Project. Show runs August 5-23 and opens August 14 , 7-9 pm. Hope you can come.

A nice little painting in acrylic from the lake at my cottage, lots of reeds blowing in the breeze, some brush, some knife.

A Painting a Week.  This is titled Domestic Issues in America. It is mixed media, all the printed sections are actually scraps of cloth.

Something for this summer holiday weekend. This is titled Sky, Sea and Sand, 44x34 inches on linen and uses quite a bit of Sand for texture( thanks to Eric Atkinson)

Week Thirteen. A Painting a Week

Week Thirteen.  This is titled Long Ago and is part of a series about women and how they are presented. The other two have already been posted( Lady in Blue, New Shoes). It is mixed media and is 12x12 on birch wood.

Here is Week Twelve of a Painting  a Week. It is 5x7 inches , a stained tissue paper collage. No title as yet, any suggestions?

Week Eleven

Week Eleven.  Titled Conversational Crater( or the Fish). It is approximately 14x14 inches, acrylic on     raw canvas. Love this technique, so much fun to do and effective.

Week Nine. A Painting A Week

So here is Week Nine selection, titled Iowa. I am a couple of days late posting, photos took a while to be available. It is acrylic, about 40x60. I like the depth in this piece, photo doesn't really give the best effect

Week Eight

Week Eight of A Painting A Week:   This is a stained tissue paper collage about 8x10, titled Red Sun. I have always liked the effect of this type of collage.

Week Seven

This week I am showing "The Jungle" . Acrylic and about 24x24 inches, this type of painting is layers of fluid acrylic, all painted with a foam brush( dollar store variety).  Very intuitive process.

So I bet you thought I forgot! No just busy today. This small painting was created in a workshop with Eric Atknison at Bijans. It was a thrill to work with Eric and such fun throwing sand around.
