April30, 2020. Day 45 of Covid-19 waiting it out time. Well where are the guys today? It looks like they are on the Camino in northern Spain. They see see some pilgrims, a photo of monks or friars walking the Way and a map of the route. Pokey already has his scallop shell , the symbol of a pilgrim walking the Camino. Gumby is amazed” Do people really walk all that way? But why?” “ Yes “ says Pokey “ It’s about 800km . It can be walked for religious reasons or for a peaceful experience. Come on, let’s follow those pilgrims.” Gumby begins grumbling “ I can’t walk all that way, it’s too hard. Wait, I think that one pilgrim might have some wine! Will they share?” Pokey sighs” Pilgrims are very good about sharing” And off they go to try walking the Camino. How far will they travel? Will they have a spiritual experience? Will Gumby overindulge in the fruit of the vine? April 28, 2020. Day 44 of the Covid-19 waiting it out time. Somewhere in some big city, someone has been marking up alleys and buildings with his own style of graffiti. Gumby and Pokey are amazed! Paintings on old buildings and in alleyways! But Gumby and Pokey also like the art they are seeing. Gumby explains to Pokey that what the artist is doing is really illegal and rebellious. Pokey likes the rebel part and starts to draw his own. “Is that why the artist is wearing that hoody and hiding his face?” “Yes” answers Gumby” he has to careful because the police would like to arrest him!” Just for painting thinks Pokey! “I see the Police, Pokey”shouts Gumby “You’ve been defacing the sidewalk. We better leave quickly”. And away they go. April 27, 2020. Day 43 in Covid -19 waiting it out time. Gumby and Pokey are in the forest today. They are meeting a family of raccoons and are going to explore the forest with them . Hope they are up to some tree climbing because raccoons like to climb. Pokey notices that almost everything is in black and white. “What’s going on ?” Pokey wonders. “I seem to be having trouble seeing colour.” “ Oh” explains Gumby “ I asked the Door to do that. All those colours and stuff yesterday were giving me a headache. I find this very soothing.” “My goodness” exclaims Pokey “ if you didn’t drink all that wine you would be fine. Now I have to put up with your silliness!” “This is a good experience “ states Gumby “ Let’s enjoy our visit.” And they do but Pokey hopes that tomorrow will be in colour. So they built a collage to help you visualize the trip. Pokey says,” There are lots of colours and shapes and textures all swirling around at dizzying speeds.” “ Yes” groans Gumby “And if you look down you can see parts of the ground rushing by. But don’t do this if you had a few bottles of wine the day before! Oh, I don’t feel so good!” Oh dear, perhaps tomorrow Gumby will feel better. April 25, 2020. Day 41 of Covid-19 stay at home time. Today Gumby and Pokey are in one of the most magical places-the cottage! And they hope that soon all of you will be able to be there too! They are on the beach relaxing in the sun with a picnic too. Pokey sees seals and perhaps a shark in the water! Gumby says” Don’t worry, the shark won’t come out of the water and the seals won’t bother you. They just want some sun”. Pokey looks at Gumby and frowns. “ Did you bring all those bottles of wine just for you? “ “Don’t worry Pokey, I finished one so there’s only two big ones left!” Gumby prefers to stay flat on his towel for now, perhaps he needs to digest a bit first. April21, 2020. Day 37 of Covid -19 stay at home time. Gumby and Pokey have arrived at a cowboy camp with the help of the time and space wizard, the Door. They are getting ready to go on a cattle roundup. Everyone has a horse to ride except Pokey for , of course he is a horse and doesn’t need to ride. There’s a campfire going and beans cooking up , ready for when the cowboys return from riding the range. Pokey says” I bet those beans will be delicious after all the cow poking! “ Oh no thinks Gumby, ‘this is not going to be good ! April 20, 2020. Day 36 of Covid-19 stay at home. Pokey is so happy! Today the Door took them to the fire station! Pokey was allowed to run all over the fire truck! Gumby says” Look at the brave Fireman! And that scary looking Fire”. Pokey agrees that firemen are very brave. “But also all the other people who take care of us. You know, doctors, nurses, cleaners, police, paramedics. I hope I remembered everyone that is important! April18,2020. Day 34 of Covid-19 stay at home time. What a surprise today! Gumby and Pokey have dropped into a life drawing class. The nude model was a bit of a surprise but everyone else seemed cool with it so they settled in and began drawing. “ Gumby” whispered Pokey “ Your drawing looks like a big scribble”. “ Pokey! this is an abstract painting! But look at yours! You made her look like you. She has a horse face!” Oh dear, upset in the studio! “Well”says Pokey “We all see things in our own way. Gumby, check out the instructor and the other student. Love his Heavy Metal jacket! Artists are very snappy dressers!” And so it goes.
